e-Abilities

ICT based Accessibility is considered to serve as a basic strategy to promote full participation of people with disabilities in the Information Society. Many types of networked initiatives are ongoing at this moment in the development and promotion of Design for All and Assistive Technologies (AT). They are funded by the EC within the IST programmes, but also by national and regional funding bodies.

Current issues e-Abilities aims to overcome:

eABILITIES aims at developing a framework for sharing current and future actions in research, education and technology transfer in the field of ICT accessibility in the home, vehicle and working environments in Europe. With this purpose, eABILITIES will enable, organise and promote the share of related knowledge, communication, facilities equipment and personnel resources.

Objectives

One of the main objectives of eAbilities is to develop a platform for sharing resources and more specifically, to make an extensive and detailed map of current and possible future technological developments in ICT accessibility, to organise contacts and exchanges and to identify needs, breakthroughs and bottlenecks.
