Are you aware of an individual, or an organisation or an initiative that you believe has made an impact in the quality of life of people with disabilities and elderly with the support of ICT?

Do you believe you personally have made some significant contributions to the quality of life of people with disabilities and elderly with the support of ICT?

The ACCESS-IT ceremony is a unique event, as it is the first of its kind to be hosted in the UK. ACCESS-IT is a new and exciting development which wishes to forge closer links with society and Accessible ICT.

These awards will celebrate significant contributions in the field of accessible IT for people with a disability against the benchmarks produced by the EC funded e-Abilities project. These awards are being jointly organised by e-ISOTIS (Greece) and AbilityNet (UK), and is being hosted by Microsoft UK. Microsoft (UK) are supporting the ACCESS IT 2008 awards ceremony.

The award ceremony will fully adhere to the dissemination guidelines set down within the e-Abilities project description.

Event

The 2008 awards will be held in the Head Office of Microsoft (UK), Victoria, London on the 18th July 2008.

After hearing the vision of ACCESS-IT, Microsoft (UK) has agreed to support the event by providing the venue, catering and other support "in kind".

The event is second part of the dissemination activities taking place on the 18th July 2008. eAbilities will hold an innovative and exciting workshop in the morning of the event in the same location. If you wish to attend please email access-it-awards@e-isotis.org with "eAbilities workshop" in the title.

ACCESS-IT Brand

ACCESS-IT has been in the planning process for over one year now. The concept was designed as a complete brand to help further the development of Accessible IT and ICT for people with disabilities within Europe.

Currently today there is no cohesive organisation that celebrates and also demonstrates AT and ICT under one generic name. ACCESS-IT aims to present this field as one body, drawing together scientific, academic, technical and commercial offerings.

The ACCESS-IT was born in 2007 and will grow year on year, with events such as:

All of the above are very exciting with innovative developments in the field of AT and ICT for people with disabilities.

ACCESS-IT is a cooperation between e-ISOTIS (www.e-isotis.org) and AbilityNet (www.abilitynet.org.uk)

Here at ACCESS-IT we are continually looking to add value to the brand and this can only be done with the help and assistance of you, the people who operate in this field on a daily basis.

Therefore, we ask for paper submissions, event participants, ideas, suggestions and of course sponsorship to be submitted via this website.
